Balloon Festival

What beautiful sights! Certainly worth the long lines and walking across a corn field.

Kites
More Kites

Turn speakers up loud and you may be able to hear the music to which the kite flying demostration was choreographed, though I did miss the first part of the show.

The Stoop

Our front porch in the city.

A Good Day

Enjoying a good book, a cinnamon scone, and a latte while people watching on the patio downstairs. Shouln't be long until the birthday boy gets home.

Happy Birthday!

I just sent Lyle out the door on his first day of school, teaching in the new school.
I felt bad since it's his birthday and no one there will know it.

Octopus Salad

A post dusk view of the same fountain in the park as earlier today.

Happy Sunday

Beautiful day with a nice, post church walk through the park.

We went to the State Fair today to do a CCI demo. Couldn't leave without sampling a few fair staples. 17th Street BBQ and a funnel cake. Yum!

Surprise!

I'm always amazed how these surprise lilies can lay dormant for months, then in just a matter of days, present such pretty flowers from the bare earth.

Back in Chicago Again.

Among its many charms, Chicago is wonderful if as a place to take in so many sights in a short period of time. Here are just a few in the past 24 hrs.

The view form the 4th floor.

Chik-Fil-A

"Creek" in a cityscape along Michigan Ave.

Dinner at Flacos Tacos.
(this, along with chik-fil-a, jimmy johns, soupbox, frozen yogurt and starbuck, all within two doors of the apt)

Blurry because of the "walk-by" factor, but I admire how much gardening can take place when it's 100% concrete over the earth,

Breakfast at whole foods. Looks odd in a cardboard box, but it was quite tasty.

Roebuck at Starbucks.

A winding maze of underground caverns leads to the laundry area. Yes, that opening is only about 4 feet high.

The maze also leads to a secret pasage into the frozen yougurt shop.

And finally, looking up just now at the building at the across the street from the apartment...
we have this brave man. You won't see me doing that!
